So you’ve been together for a few months, or years and the shine of being in a new relationship has worn off.
Your living together and/or married with kids and the time once spent going out to dinner, movies, walks in the park or excursions to the beach are now spent together in silence, slothing in your daggy tracksuit, sitting on the couch watching another series of the Bachelor or Married at First Sight, thinking to yourself, is this as good as it gets!
Well, don’t despair, below are some simple and fun ways to reconnect with your loved one and put some sparkle back into your love life. The best part is, all of these can be done in the comfort of your own home (after the kids have gone to bed).
Instead of sitting on the couch, why not make an effort and turn it into special. Start by creating the right atmosphere; throw some blankets and pillows on the floor, perhaps string up some fairy lights or light some candles, soft music playing in the background also helps set the scene.
Ok, so this one doesn’t need to be as full on as the recent movie starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, it can be a bit more low key. Grab your favourite board or card game and sit down with some cheese and wine and get your game-face one.
Picnic Inside / Outside
Set up a picnic blanket, either inside or outside depending on the weather. Turn off the lights and either string up some softly lit fairy lights or perhaps light some candles. Grab a basket and fill with some delectable goodies, think chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, cheese, fruit etc.
Dinner by Candlelight
This is one of the easiest and sometimes the least thought about ideas. Why not grab takeaway or have your favourite meal delivered. Set the table with a nice place setting, add some fresh flowers, open some wine, light some candles, add some soft background music and turn off the lights, oh and why not just for fun, get all dressed up. Voila! Instant restaurant.
Make Dinner Together
Turn up the heat in the kitchen and help prepare your favourite meal or perhaps choose a three course meal that neither of you had made before and get cooking. The best part, sitting down and eating the spoils at the end of the night.
Borrow one of the kids Xbox or Playstations after they are asleep and either help each other or challenge each other to a game or two.
I hope that the above ideas provide you with some inspiration. I’d luv to hear how your date night at home went in the comment section below.
PS. to make these ideas successful, why not think about disconnecting from the mobile phone or any other device you may have…just a thought!
