Almond Meal – love making your own Almond Milk but don’t know what to do with the leftover pulp? Why not make your very own Almond Meal!
Nut milks are said to be very nutritious and good for you, but they can also be very expensive and a little on the wasteful side, especially if you are discarding the pulp afterwards.
For me, a 750 gram bag of natural Almonds at my local supermarket retails for AUD11. A bag of this size yields a fair quantity of milk but at AUD11, it’s also very expensive when week in and week out I’m really only using a portion of what’s available to me.
So donning my resourceful and sustainable hat, I decided to whizz up some Almond Meal, that way I always have some healthy and nutritious meal on hand. This meal can be used in all types of baking, however it may produce a slightly denser and chewier texture than using an all-purpose flour, although you could also use a blend in a lot of recipes. If you put your creative cap on, there a lot of ways in which you can use this great little ingredient.
