Almond Milk – home-made is so fresh, so creamy and sooooo much better than the store bought variety. This really does have no added ingredients, sugars or hidden nasties. It really is, just 100% pure nut milk.
Apart from being a great alternative to cow’s milk and the added benefits it can offer, it is easy and somewhat fun to make.
My favourite way to use Almond Milk is; with my porridge or in a smoothie. You can also add a little honey, sugar-free maple syrup or regular maple syrup if you want to enjoy it as a drink to dunk your biscuits in…yum!

Step by step instructions:
In a medium-sized bowl add the Almonds.
Cover the Almonds with water until they are submerged.
Cover with a plate or tea towel. Allow them to soak for 12-24 hours at room temperature.
Tip: the longer you soak them, the creamier the milk will be.
Drain the Almonds and discard the liquid that they were soaking in.
Give the Almonds a good rinse with fresh water.
In a food processor add the Almonds, Salt and Water. Process for 1 minute.
Place a nut bag or a piece of cheesecloth into a medium sized bowl.
Add the processed Almond mixture to the nut bag.
Twist and squeeze the nut bag to extract all the milk. Continue this process until you can’t extract any more milk. Discard the Almond pulp.
Place fresh Almond Milk into a sealed container.
Serving Suggestion: add honey or maple syrup of your choice to taste.
- Store in the fridge for 2-3 days, in a sealed container.
