Jamie Oliver’s Apple Crumble Cookies – I made these and they were yum!
Jamie Oliver’s 5 Ingredients – Quick and Easy Food is currently airing on TV in Australia at night and I can’t help but to tune in and be inspired with how quickly and easily he manages to transform a handful of basic ingredients in to something utterly mouth-watering and delectable. Now one such recipe caught my eye and it was the Apple Crumble Cookies. I mean, who doesn’t love Apple Crumble and if you can capture all that flavour in a small little cookie, them I’m down for giving that a crack.
Making these cookies does require a food processor and I was lucky enough to have literally just purchased one the week before and hadn’t yet had a chance to make anything in it. After seeing this episode I knew that this was going to be perfect way to christen my new gadget. Having never used a food processor before, I have to say, these cookies were made in less than 5 minutes and with only a short baking time as well, they were perfectly timed for my afternoon tea time snack.
These cookies took me on a journey back to my childhood. I remember when I was somewhere between 8 and 12 my mum would make up a slice or biscuits for the week on a Saturday afternoon. I would sit on the bench-top next to her mixer and add the ingredients when allowed or simply watch her work away, all whilst waiting for the best part…licking the beater and the bowl! These biscuits really are homely, old style home-cooking at it’s best.
What’s great about them? They are super fast to make and the dried apple gives it this beautiful sweetness and softness with a gorgeous little crumble on top that just makes you say…mmmmm.
If you want to try these out for yourself, I certainly can’t recommend them enough, oh and nor can the staff at my place of work, they were begging me to make more of them.
