Birthdays!
September / October are the months for us in which everyone’s birthdays, including ours fall.
It is the time in which we are catching up for dinners, lunches and gift exchanges with extended family, what feels like weekly.
By the end of the month we are almost glad to see it gone for another year.
The first couple of catch-ups everyone is excited to swap stories, however by the end of it, boring topics like the news become the focal point of conversations.
Does anyone else experience this or just us?
However this year for Coach’s birthday, we opted for a stay at home dinner with just us and the kids (it was a school night after all).
As such we kicked off the lavish event with some home-cooked crumbed lamb cutlets, mash and fried peas with red onion.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, we followed it up a gorgeous French Vanilla cheesecake, that took me hours to prepare.
This entailed opening the Sara Lee box and lovingly placing, jabbing a few candles into the centre of the cake.
I must say, this has been the most extravagant event I’ve been to this year!
What I love the most about these cheesecakes, is that the producers of them pop them into a gorgeous silver alfoil lining, which means no additional fancy plates or ribbon decorations are required to provide that extra special feel.
I tell ya, that man doesn’t know what a catch he has got in me! #oneluckyboy.
Do you go to this much effort for birthdays? What do you and your family like to do to celebrate?
